Chia-Ming Hsu
Saxophone

Chia-Ming Hsu was born in Tainan, Taiwan. He started to learn saxophone in high school under the guidance of Tsai Min-Long. During his study period, Chia-Ming taught in saxophone sectionals of elementary school wind ensembles and was invited to perform in numerous wind orchestra concerts. In 2003 and 2007, he was invited by National Hsinchu University of Education to perform in the concert tour in Beijing, Tianjin, and cities in China. After his retirement from the Air Force Military Band of R.O.C., he immediately resumed his saxophone teaching as a career. In 2012, Chia-Ming received his Bachelor of Music from National University of Tainan under the guidance of Dr. Chi-Huan Wu and Dr. Bo-Yuan Guo. In the same year, he performed at Macao Band Fair with the National University of Tainan Wind Ensemble and received critical acclaim. Since 2014, he has been taught at Tainan Chongming Elementary School and Yuwen Elementary School and led the schools’ wind ensembles to Japan, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore and other countries for performances and musical interflows, which has been deeply loved by local audiences and thereby increased the international perspective for students.

Chia-Ming is currently a saxophonist of Kaohsiung City Wind Orchestra. Except teaching saxophone sectionals, he is the Director of National Tainan Commercial Vocational Senior High School Wind Ensemble, Hung Jen Catholic Girls’ High School Wind Ensemble in Chiayi, Tainan Chongming Elementary School Wind Ensemble, and Tainan Yuwen Elementary School Wind Ensemble.
