Yu-Cheng Tseng
Basson

Graduated from the music classes of Kaohsiung City Fongshan Elementary School, Kaohsiung Municipal Fongsi Junior High School, Kaohsiung Municipal Kaohsiung Senior High School, the Music Department of National Taipei University of Education, and the Master's degree of Music Department of National Taiwan Normal University, Majored in bassoon and studied under renowned teachers including CHIU Chien-Huang, TSAI Hui-Wen, SHIUNG Zhi-Ling, CHANG Hsien-Hui, and JIAN Kai-Yu. Currently serving as the principal bassoonist of the Kaohsiung City Wind Orchestra.

Frequently invited to participate in various types of performance activities. Since 2022, has been a guest bassoonist and contrabassoonist with the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra, and has also performed with the National Symphony Orchestra, Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra, and various symphony and chamber music ensembles across Taiwan.

Actively participated in music festival performances during school years: In July 2018, participated in the 20th Asian and Pacific Band Directors Association Festival in Hamamatsu, Japan; in July 2019, attended the HSU Chia-Chu Bassoon Chamber Ensemble Summer Camp; in December 2019, participated in the Midwest Clinic in the USA; and in July 2023 and January 2024, participated in the first and second National Youth Symphony Orchestra music camps.

Also excelled in concerto selection competitions: In 2013, performed Weber Bassoon Concerto op. 75 with the Fongsi Junior High School Symphony Orchestra; in 2020, performed Berwald Konzertstück for bassoon op. 2 with the National Taipei University of Education Symphony Orchestra; and in 2022, performed Rossini Bassoon Concerto with the National Taiwan Normal University Symphony Orchestra. Also, in 2021, was honored with the E.SUN Commercial Bank: Nurturing outstanding management personnel Scholarship.
