Akris H. C. Hung
Oboe

Akris Hung is a professional oboist and teacher in Kaohsiung and Tainan. Ms. Hung is the art director of Colored Clouds Chamber Ensemble, and is a member of the Capriccio Chamber Players. She also serves as the principal oboist of the Tainan City Symphony Orchestra, Taiwan Soloist Symphony Orchestra, and Kaohsiung City Wind Orchestra.

Winning a national wind instrument competition as a young performer, she was recognized for her early talent by the Taiwan Ministry of Education and was awarded an opportunity to study abroad. In Vienna, she graduated from the Konservatorium der Stadt Wien and studied with Professor Alexander Oehelberger, oboist of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. While living in Austria, she performed concertos as a soloist at the Wiener Konzerthaus and Wiener Musikvereinsaal. Ms. Hung also won first prize at the 14th National Chamber Music Festival of Switzerland to great acclaim.

After returning to Taiwan, Ms. Hung has been teaching oboe performance and chamber music from grade school to college levels. She has been teaching as an assistant professor at the National Kaohsiung Normal University, National Tainan University, and at Tainan University of Technology. Ms. Hung also performs regularly in Taiwan at recitals and chamber music concerts, and as a soloist performing concertos with Kaohsiung City Youth Symphony Orchestra, Kaohsiung City Symphony Orchestra, Tainan City Symphony Orchestra, Taiwan Artists Ensemble, Kaohsiung City Wind Symphony, Taiwan Soloist Chamber Orchestra, and the National Kaohsiung Normal University Chamber Orchestra. She also has performed internationally in North America, Europe, Australia, and other countries in Asia.
