Shao-Wei Huang
Trombone
Born in Taiwan, Kaohsiung, Shao-Wei Huang began studying the trombone at the age of 10 with Tsung-Wen Kao. In 2019, he was accepted to the Hsin Hsing Senior High School study with Yu-Huey Chen. In 2022 he was accepted to the Yong Siew Toh Conservator of Music, National University of Singapore, studied with Sam Armstrong from Singapore Symphony Orchestra and Marques Young from Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, and he also studied Bass Trombone with Wang Wei from Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Now he also studies the conducting with Chan Wang from National Kaohsiung Normal University and Boon-Hua Lien from Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.
As a soloist and orchestra player, he won the 14th Taipei Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition in 2024, attended National Symphony Youth Orchestra in 2023, conducted a Recital in National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts and won the Honorable Mention of International Trombone Association Gilberto Gaaliardi Tenor Trombone Competition in 2022, won the 1st prize of National Student Competition in 2021, attended National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra Summer Camp in 2020 and won the Espoir Prize of 20th OSAKA International Music Competition in 2019. Now he is the member of Kaohsiung City Wind Orchestra, YST Trombone Choir, NTSO Youth Orchestra and NTSO Wind Band.
